THE SANDWICH BOARD’S “LUNCH- LIVE IT, LOVE IT” CAMPAIGN SPREADS THE LOVE THIS VALENTINE’S DAY WITH THEIR NEW PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY SANDWICH
New York, New York (February 13, 2013) – During a holiday season where over half of Americans plan on buying candy for themselves and the ones they love, The Sandwich Board (TSB) is trying to provide a healthier alternative to satisfy our nation’s sweet tooth. So, this year, just in time for Valentine’s Day, the TSB introduces a marriage made in mealtime heaven: Peanut Butter and Jelly (PB & J).
The Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich will serve as The Board’s cheerleader in their newest campaign “Lunch – Live It, Love It.” The campaign is a result of a recent survey, conducted by TSB, which revealed there is much to be desired in the lunchtime choices of the American public. With TSB’s strong efforts to approach healthy eating through delicious, fun, and family-friendly alternatives like the PB & J, it seems that this sandwich will be sticking around for quite some time.
TSB’s “What’s in America’s Lunchbox” study revealed 75 percent of Americans weren’t getting enough protein in their diets, and that daily intake of fruits and vegetables within the United States averages to a mere .5 cup, compared to the 2 cups the National Board of Health’s declares as the Recommended Daily Allowance. Ms. Olive Loaf, TSB CEO and President, said in response to the campaign launch, “We want to help give Americans a greater variety of healthy lunchtime options. The Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich will allow us to reach so many Americans because it is such a great–not to mention delicious–example of how we can work on a better balanced lifestyle, while enjoying what we eat.”
To help American families on a path to healthy, happy lunchtime. TSB’s “Lunch – Live It, Love It” campaign targets even the pickiest of eaters, from kids and teenagers, to hungry spouses. Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich was a result of a collaboration between pastry Chef Lydia Bonbon, owner of the popular Manhattan cafe La Vie en Chocolat, and none other than her 3 year old daughter, Emile. At the breakfast table one morning, little Emile got her hands on (well, moreso in) the Peanut Butter and Jelly jars respectively. Being the generous little girl that she is, Emily offered her mother a taste (thankfully her hands were clean). Chef Lydia was delightfully surprised at the balance of flavors. This brilliant breakfast mishap happened at an integral time, offering a great result to approaching healthy and delicious lunch options for Americans.
